What is an Online Backup Service and do I need it?
The online backup service allows clients to directly backup their
business critical data to a secure offsite location for storage using
encrypted file transfer.
Why do we need it when we already take our tapes off site?
The Online Backup Service provides you instant access via an Internet
Connection to your business critical data. Tapes fail, backup drives fail and
users forget to put tapes in the drive. The Online Backup Service is
an automated system that will ensure you have an offsite copy of your
data, even if it is redundant.
Can clients use the Online Backup Service instead of their existing
tape backup solution?
No. Tape backups are faster and therefore are capable of backing up more
data on a daily basis. We recommend the online backup as an enhancement
to your existing backup strategy.
Will the backup client have to be installed on every server/pc that is
being backed up?
No, the client can be installed on one server/pc which can backup the
other servers over the network.
Will CRS be responsible for monitoring backup logs, setting up jobs
and maintaining?
CRS will assist in setting up the initial backup job as part of the setup
fee, but the Online Backup Service is separate from our Technical Support
Services. The Standard Service includes notification of failed or missed
backups, but the Basic Service does not. For existing CRS Technology Contract
Clients we will monitor backup jobs as we already do with tape backups.
Additional support and maintenance will be billed at $110/hour in ¼ hour
increments unless the problem is determined to be CRS Technology’s fault.
Where will my data be stored?
The data is stored on CRS Technology’s server in a secure facility in
downtown Fort Myers. The server is configured with multiple hardware
redundancies and is connected to the Internet via redundant high speed
Internet connections.
