Reducing or eliminating SPAM is a "hot button" for business owners. The ever-growing
flood of junk mail is resulting in increased legislation and penalties for
persistent spammers - but that's not much help to your inbox!
There are many anti-spam applications available with a wide range of effectiveness.
One thing to bear in mind: It's not just "download and go". Anti-spam software
requires the user spend some time working with the program settings to achieve
best possible results.
Anti-spam software uses rules to filter mail based on some combination of
word repetition, target words and phrases, known and unknown senders, language
character sets, and user personal preferences.
A good anti-spam program will allow you to easily review messages flagged
as spam to avoid missing any "real" messages.
Note that anti-spam software should be managed at the Exchange server level
for local area networks using Exchange.
Computer users are reminded to NEVER
make modifications to desktop machines that are part of a local area network
without first consulting your computer network systems specialist.
